Fixing these references to be relative to $JOB or $HIP makes your scene or project more portable and able to be sent out for remote simulation/rendering. In this lesson you will start from scratch to model, render, animate, and simulate a soccer ball, also known as a football in many parts of the world. Use the Render ▸ Preflight menu item to find references in the current scene file to resources outside the project (for example, explicit paths to other locations on disk). This ensures the path you choose starts with $JOB, keeping it relative to the project. When you're opening or saving files in the file picker, click $JOB on the left to quickly go to the project directory. Use $JOB in paths for shared project files (for example, $JOB/textures) and $HIP in paths for scene-specific files (for example, $HIP/camera_maps). Houdini is a 3D procedural software for modeling, rigging, animation, VFX, look development, lighting and rendering in film, TV, advertising and video game pipelines. These point caches can be static or animated point clouds created using procedural modeling techniques or using Particle, FLIP Fluid or Rigid Body simulation tools. You can also use the File ▸ Set Recent Project to choose from a list of recently used projects. The Houdini Niagara Plug-in brings point cache data saved out as a JSON file into Niagara along with attributes such as age, life, id and color. Houdini Foundations is for artists who want to learn how to use Houdini and its node-based. This 224 page book contains 9 chapters designed to help artists take their first steps into Houdini. Use File ▸ Set Project to choose a project directory to work in. Houdini Foundations for Houdini 19.5 is now available as downloadable PDF through a link below and a print-on-demand book through the Lulu Ebook company. Using the default directory names allows you maintain consistency between scene files and projects. This creates subdirectories in the project directory for containing various artifacts involved in the project, such as renderings, digital assets, scripts, simulation files, and so on.
